WHAT WE BELIEVE

TENETS OF
faith.

This ministry affirms the Holy Bible as the final authority in all matters of faith, conduct, doctrine, and moral truth. The following Tenets of Faith define our foundational beliefs.

01

The Scriptures Inspired

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God and are the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. The Scriptures are the supreme authority in all doctrinal matters. In areas of interpretation, the governing leadership of Legacy Awakening holds final authority under the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:15–17 · 1 Thessalonians 2:13 · 2 Peter 1:21
02

The One True God

We believe in one eternally existent God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4 · Matthew 28:19 · Luke 3:22
03

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, as demonstrated by His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary work on the cross, bodily resurrection, and exaltation at the right hand of God.

Matthew 1:23 · Hebrews 7:26 · 1 Corinthians 15:3 · Acts 1:9–11
04

The Fall of Man

We believe humanity was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression fell into sin. As a result, all people are in need of salvation.

Genesis 1:26–27 · Genesis 3:6 · Romans 5:12
05

The Salvation of Man

Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation includes justification, regeneration, the new birth, and adoption into the family of God. Evidence of salvation is a transformed life.

Luke 24:47 · Romans 10:13–15 · Ephesians 2:8–9
06

The Ordinances of the Church

We believe in two ordinances: Water Baptism by immersion, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and Holy Communion, the Lord's Supper as a memorial of Christ's suffering and death.

Matthew 28:19 · Romans 6:4 · 1 Corinthians 11:26
07

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience following salvation. This empowerment is given to enable believers for bold witness and effective ministry.

Acts 1:4–8 · Acts 2:4
08

The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism

We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is accompanied by the initial physical evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

Acts 2:4 · Acts 10:44–46 · Acts 19:6
09

Sanctification

Sanctification is both a definite act at salvation and a progressive lifelong process. Believers are called to holiness in conduct and character.

1 Corinthians 1:30 · Romans 12:1–2 · 1 Thessalonians 5:23
10

The Church and Its Mission

The Church is the Body of Christ. Its mission is to evangelize the world, worship God, build up believers, and demonstrate the compassion of Christ.

Ephesians 1:22–23 · Ephesians 2:22
11

The Ministry

We believe in a divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry for the purpose of evangelization, worship leadership, edification of believers, and spiritual oversight.

Ephesians 4:11–16 · Mark 16:15–20
12

Divine Healing

Divine healing is provided in the atonement of Christ. Healing is available through prayer and faith according to God's sovereign will.

Isaiah 53:4–5 · Matthew 8:16–17 · James 5:14–16
13

The Blessed Hope

We believe in the imminent return of Christ for His Church. This event, often referred to as the rapture, is the blessed hope of believers.

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 · Titus 2:13
14

The Millennial Reign of Christ

We believe in the literal second coming of Christ to reign on earth for one thousand years. This reign will bring salvation to Israel and establish universal peace.

Zechariah 14:5 · Revelation 20:1–6
15

The Final Judgment

There will be a final judgment of the wicked. Those who reject Christ will face eternal separation from God.

Revelation 20:11–15
16

The New Heavens and the New Earth

We believe in the promise of a new heaven and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells.

Revelation 21–22 · 2 Peter 3:13
17

Marriage, Sexuality, and Moral Conduct

In alignment with Scripture, we affirm that marriage is between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy is reserved exclusively for marriage. All sexual immorality — including adultery, fornication, and pornography — is sin. Believers are called to holiness in body and spirit.

Genesis 2:24 · Hebrews 13:4 · 1 Corinthians 6:18–20
