IDENTITY IN CHRIST · 01

I HAVE BEEN
crucified with Christ.

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20

There is a sentence T. L. Osborn used to say that will reorganize your whole inner world if you let it land: Jesus didn't die for you. He died as you.

Read Galatians 2:20 again, slowly. I am crucified with Christ. Not next to Him. With Him. The old man, the old identity, the old version of you that was a slave to sin and an orphan in spirit — that man went into the grave with Jesus. And the man who walked out of the tomb on the third day is the man you now live as.

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

This is why your identity cannot be built on your past. Your past was crucified. This is why your identity cannot be built on your performance. Your performance was crucified. Your identity is not a project you are working on — it is a Person you are hidden in.

Paul said it again in Ephesians: God raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Past tense. Already done. You are not trying to earn a seat at the Father's table — you have already been seated.

Live from that seat today. Not toward it. From it.

A PRAYER

Father, thank You that my old self was crucified with Christ. I am not who I used to be. I am hidden in Him, seated with Him, alive in Him. Teach me to live from my new identity today, in Jesus' name, amen.
