GRACE & TRUTH · 01

GRACE
is not a covering.

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world." Titus 2:11–12

Somewhere along the way, the word grace got hijacked. People started using it as a covering for sin instead of an empowerment over sin. They started using it as a permission slip instead of a power source.

Grace is not a license. Grace is an enablement. It is the spiritual endowment from God — the power to do what the truth demands.

The grace to be saved is unmerited. Nobody earned the cross. But every grace after that — the grace to walk in healing, the grace to walk in finances, the grace to walk in holiness — has to be received and walked in. Paul did not write to the Corinthians and tell them their sin was already covered no matter what. He told them sin would still keep them out of the kingdom and that they had to flee from it.

Hear this carefully. Grace will not cover unconfessed sin. If we confess our sins, John says, He is faithful and just to forgive us. Forgiveness is in the bank account, but confession is the card that draws on it. Grace will not bind you so that you cannot sin if you choose to. Grace will not force obedience. Grace will not cancel the law of sowing and reaping — Paul said it twice in case anybody missed it: Be not deceived. God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

Grace is the most powerful gift heaven ever sent — but Paul also said it can be received in vain, and you can fall from it.

Grace is the power. Holiness is the walk. Receive the grace, and use it for what it was given for.

A PRAYER

Father, I refuse to take Your grace in vain. Thank You for the power You have placed inside me to live the life You have called me to. I confess my sin, I receive Your forgiveness, and I walk in the holiness Your grace empowers, in Jesus' name, amen.
