THE GRASS WITHERS,
the Word stands.

"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the Word of our God shall stand for ever." Isaiah 40:8

If situations could change the Bible, then the Bible would be a lie — because everybody's situation is different. Your circumstances do not get a vote on what God's Word says.

You never base your theology on your experience. You base it on the Word of God.

Hosea said the people of God were destroyed for a lack of knowledge — and the same is true today. What you don't know in the Word will not just hurt you, it can kill you. If you are weak in an area of the Bible, you will struggle in that area of life. The doctor does not have the final say. Your bank account does not have the final say. The diagnosis does not have the final say. The Word of our God shall stand for ever.

When the woman with the issue of blood pushed through the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus' garment, she did not consult the people around her. She did not poll the experience of the others who had been sick for twelve years too. She had heard the Word about Jesus, and she said inside herself, if I just touch His clothes, I will be made whole. And she was.

Faith is the pillar that brings the promise of God into your life. The shield of faith, Paul said, extinguishes all the fiery darts of the enemy — not most of them. All of them. Darkness has no capacity to overwhelm light. When you turn the lights on in a room, you don't have to ask the darkness to leave. It flees.

Stop letting your situation read the Bible to you. Read the Bible to your situation.

A PRAYER

Father, Your Word is the final authority over my life. I refuse to let circumstances rewrite Your promises. I take my stand on what You have already said, and I receive every promise that belongs to me, in Jesus' name, amen.
